1. Sub-forum Overview
        The Sub-forum on Precision Medicine is sponsored by Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine and organized by Shanghai Institute of Precision Medicine, the Ninth People’s Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. This sub-forum is part of the International Young Scholars Cloud Forum of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine in 2022. The sub-forum aims to build a communication platform for outstanding young scholars domestic and overseas. By holding the Cloud lecture, Cloud Seminar, Cloud workshop, and other online activities, the sub-forum will conduct a discussion with young medical talents on cutting-edge sciences and technologies, promote communication and collaboration, and introduce career development and academic opportunities in China.

2. Introduction of SHIPM
        Established in 2017, the Shanghai Institute of Precision Medicine (SHIPM) is dedicated to developing Shanghai into a science innovation center. SHIPM belongs to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine and is affiliated with Shanghai 9th People’s Hospital. Dr. Ming Lei is the Executive Director of SHIPM. As a subsidiary institute to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, SHIPM has built its scientific research team to promote the precision prevention, diagnosis, and therapy against severe chronic diseases threatening human health, such as cancer, metabolic diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, cardiovascular diseases, etc., by orchestrating the power of the basic and translational research to address questions in life science. SHIPM has established six cutting-edge research facilities in the fields of Protein Engineering, Mass Spectroscopy, Electron Microscopy, Bio-imaging, Chemical Biology, and Bioinformatics. To become a precision medicine research hub with global influence, SHIPM is conducting extensive international cooperation and students exchange activities with Harvard Medical School, Yale Medical School, and the University of Michigan.

3. Organizer of the Sub-forum
        Dr. Lei Ming: Professor, the Executive Director of SHIPM, Council Member of Asia Pacific Protein Association, the Vice President of the Biophysical Society of China, and the Vice President of Protein Society, CSBMB. Dr. Lei is the deputy editor of Biological Chemistry and the executive editor of Science Bulletin, and was the editorial board member of The Journal of Biological Chemistry, Frontiers in Cancer Molecular Targets, and Therapeutics, Frontiers in Oncology.
Prof. Lei’s laboratory focuses on the organization and dynamics of macromolecular assemblies important for genome regulation and stability. Combining the structural studies, such as X-ray crystallography, nuclear magnetic resonance and electron microscopy, with the biophysical and biochemical approaches, Lei Lab has made important progress on telomeres and epigenetics. He had published more than 70 papers and is supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology 973 Program of China, the National Natural Science Foundation Key Program and Joint Funds of Key Program of China, and the Strategic Priority Research Program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the National Science and Technology Major Project ‘Key New Drug Creation and Manufacturing Program’ of China. In 2009 he received the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Early Career Award. In 2011, he was honored the Recruitment Program of Global Experts by the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, China. In 2015, he was supported by National Natural Science Foundation for Distinguished Young Scholars of China.

4. The Sub-forum Arrangements
       It will be held in Shanghai in October 26th in 2022, with the detailed agenda to be determined.
